Using Addsworth Companion on iPhone
Your iPhone is a companion to Addsworth Accounting for macOS. It reads the books and captures draft entries. It does not change the books.
What stays on the Mac
These tasks are done only on your Mac:
- Post an entry, reverse a posted entry, correct tags on a posted entry, or finalize a year-end close.
- Back up, restore or reset the database. Delete or archive a company, a bank account, a GL account or a saved GST/HST report.
- Set a GIFI code, record a Quick Method election, change a filing status, edit company or T2125 details, or edit a report template.
An iPad at a regular width also reconciles bank accounts, edits bank account details and works on saved GST/HST reports, shareholders and T2125 inputs. See Using Addsworth Companion on iPad.
What you do on your iPhone
- Read every list, detail, report and the dashboard.
- Switch the active company with the company button in the toolbar, or in Settings.
- Create, edit, save, delete and copy a draft journal entry, with sales tax codes on each line.
- Generate a report from a template.
- Buy, restore and manage your subscription.
Taxes
The Taxes tab shows figures your Mac's books produce. It changes nothing.
- GST/HST. The saved reports of the latest and the previous period: net tax (line 109), the amount owing or the refund (line 113C), the filing date and the CRA confirmation number once recorded, the version, what is paid and what is still owing. Tap a report to read its lines and the journals behind them.
- Quick Method. When the election is in effect, the year's figure against the $400,000 limit.
- Provincial sales tax. In a GST+PST province, the net provincial tax of the latest period and the agency.

Sole proprietor, or a partnership that does not file a T5013. The T2125 statement. Each schedule has a Fiscal Year picker, which reaches every other year, the open one included.
Reports are generated and saved on your Mac, and you file the return with the CRA.
Banking
Open your bank accounts from Bank Accounts in the Dashboard's Liquidity section.
The iPhone has five tabs: Dashboard, Taxes, Journals, Reports and Settings. Open the Chart of Accounts with View All in the Dashboard's Account Health section.
How a draft becomes a posted entry
- Capture the draft on your iPhone. It syncs through iCloud.
- Open it on your Mac, review it, and post it there.
- The posted entry appears read-only on your iPhone and iPad.
A draft is not in the ledger or in any report until you post it on your Mac.
