Using Addsworth Companion on iPad
Your iPad is a companion to Addsworth Accounting for macOS. It reads the books, captures draft entries and carries the routine editing that a larger screen makes comfortable. It does not change the books. These controls need a regular width. In a narrow Split View or Slide Over window, the iPad reads only. Widen the window to edit.
What stays on the Mac
These tasks are done only on your Mac:
- Post an entry, reverse a posted entry, correct tags on a posted entry, or finalize a year-end close.
- Back up, restore or reset the database. Delete or archive a company, a bank account or a GL account.
- Set a GIFI code, record a Quick Method election, change a filing status, edit company or T2125 profile details, or edit a report template.
What you do on your iPad
- Everything the iPhone does: read the books, capture drafts, generate reports, manage the subscription.
- Reconcile bank accounts. Reconciliation creates draft entries and posts nothing.
- Edit descriptive fields on bank accounts.
- Add and edit shareholders, and edit the T2125 inputs.
- Generate and save a GST/HST report, and delete a saved report that is not filed and that no journal or later version depends on. Generate its clearing journal and record its payment as draft entries, and link journals to its lines. Your Mac can undo each of these.
Fiscal years, posting periods and the year-end close stay on the Mac. You can add and edit GL accounts on your iPad. Setting a GIFI code, and archiving or deleting an account, stay on the Mac.
