iCloud Sync and Your Data

2 min

Your books live in your own iCloud account. Every device signed in to the same Apple ID reads and writes the same books.

How sync works

  • Your Mac creates the company and its records. You can use more than one Mac with one Apple ID. The companion apps read the books through iCloud.
  • A draft captured on an iPhone or iPad syncs to the Mac, where you post it.
  • Sync needs a network connection and an iCloud account with available storage. Changes usually arrive within a minute.
  • Settings on your iPhone or iPad shows the sync Status, the iCloud account and the time of the last sync, once your books have arrived.

When the companion shows no companies

The companion is empty until the Mac has created a company and iCloud has delivered it. Check that both devices use the same Apple ID, that iCloud is on for Addsworth in the device's iCloud settings, and that the device has a network connection.

Your data stays yours

  • The books are stored in your private iCloud container. They are not on our servers.
  • Backup, restore and reset of the database happen on your Mac.
  • A reset or a restore on your Mac starts new books. Your iPhone and iPad then replace their copy with the new books. A draft that has not reached iCloud by then is lost. Wait for a draft to sync before you reset or restore on the Mac.

This guide in the app

Open Help from the Help button in the toolbar of Addsworth Accounting, or of Addsworth Companion on an iPhone or iPad, and search for “iCloud Sync and Your Data”.
